JEF Spring Federal Committee Tartu, Estonia 2024

The Federal Committee, more commonly referred to as FC, meets twice a year and is responsible for formulating JEF Europe’s policies and political direction. It is the main decision-making body between the European Congresses.

The 2024 Spring Federal Committee (Spring FC) held in Tartu was initiated through the introduction of the Political Commission’s (PC’s) resolutions. This was followed by the Words of Europe activity, where participants were given a platform to discuss what Europe means to them. In addition, the Democracy Under Pressure Awards were held with sections that participated in the campaign received awards in recognition of their efforts.

The second day saw the introduction of the chairs of the PCs and Task Forces alike, followed by an activity report presentation by JEF Europe’s Executive Board for the work put in since the Madrid European Congress held in November 2023. A Q&A session followed this presentation, allowing all present JEF sections to question and understand more deeply the work done by JEF Europe. This was followed by the Political Commission meeting, where participants were split into three groups, for institutions and governance, internal European Policies, and external affairs and global governance, to discuss JEF Europe’s policies and political positions through the formulation of resolutions.

The Spring FC, jointly held by JEF Estonia and JEF Finland, also consisted of a number of networking opportunities for participants from all JEF sections to get to know more about each other and establish new connections, whilst enhancing existing ones in the spirit of reaching better understandings between European youth.
