JEF Talks: No Europe, No Democracy?
On March 21st, 2025, JEF Malta launched its Democracy Under Pressure campaign with a powerful edition of JEF Talks titled “No Europe, No Democracy?l” Held at the KSU – PWC Common Room at the University of Malta, this event brought together expert voices to explore the European Union’s role in safeguarding democratic values amid growing global challenges.
The panel discussion tackled urgent questions surrounding the state of democracy today, highlighting how the EU works to protect democratic institutions and processes from rising threats, from disinformation and external interference to internal political instability. With recent developments across Europe and beyond, the conversation couldn’t have been more timely.
Attendees engaged in an enlightening dialogue that underscored democracy as a core European value, while also reflecting on how the EU continues to adapt and respond to pressures facing political systems across the continent.
As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage active citizenship and democratic engagement, this JEF Talk set the tone for a campaign committed to defending democracy in all its forms.
